Hallmark Financial Services, Inc. is a property/casualty insurer, and they are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriting Intern to join their Commercial Renewal Underwriting team. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry by supporting the underwriting team in evaluating risks, analyzing data, and contributing to decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
Assist underwriters in reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating insurance applications and risk profiles for P&C insurance policies.
Conduct research on industries, markets, and trends to assess risk exposure and profitability potential.
Prepare and analyze reports related to underwriting performance, including loss ratios, premium trends, and other key metrics.
Support the underwriting team in ensuring compliance with company guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards.
Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as brokers and agents, to gather additional information or clarify underwriting requirements.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and projects aimed at improving underwriting processes and efficiencies.
Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in underwriting systems and databases.
Shadow experienced underwriters to gain insight into risk assessment, policy issuance, and relationship management.
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude with a strong work ethic.
Preferred
Basic knowledge of insurance principles and terminology
