The internship position will focus on developing bioinformatics approaches and analyzing data to support the Computational Biology & Translation department within Genentech's gRED Computational Sciences.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for developing and applying bioinformatics approaches in analysing multiomics, expression, or sequence data.
The candidate will be responsible for documenting his or her efforts and code effectively such that colleagues will be able to replicate their efforts before and after their departure.
Gather and analyze relevant data from database and publications.
Identify and integrate computational tools to generate scientific insights for project needs
Present results at team meetings and at departmental meetings to the Genentech scientific community.
Qualification
Required
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Biomedical engineer, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Cancer Biology, or a related field.
Strong programming skills in Python, or R.
Background in cancer biology and with relevant publication record.
Experience working with the principles and techniques of data analysis, visualization, interpretation, and assessment of clinical relevance.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with an interdisciplinary team.
