The MITRE Corporation is working to solve some of the nation’s biggest challenges in defense, cybersecurity, healthcare, homeland security, the judiciary and transportation. They are seeking a highly motivated Data Science Intern to provide expertise and support to their sponsors, focusing on data analysis, visualization, and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Data analysis and visualization
- Applied mathematics, statistics, and optimization
- Simulation and computational analytics
- Systems modeling and analysis
- Operational effectiveness and efficiency
- Knowledge discovery
- Next-gen data environments
Qualification
Required
- Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Data Science or a related degree program and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship
- Understanding of or experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as Python or R
- Sustained excellence in academic performance
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance
Preferred
- Experience having applied data science learning to an internship or research/lab position
- Demonstrated interest in serving the public
- Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python (scikit-learn, NumPy, pandas, Jupyter), Scala/Java, C/C++/C#, Objective C; database design & development (SQL, Neo4J, MongoDB); AWS
- Demonstrated interest in growing domain knowledge
- Demonstrated interest in working on a team
- DOD Secret Clearance
