Itron enables utilities and cities to safely, securely and reliably deliver critical infrastructure services to communities in more than 100 countries. The Distributed Intelligence team is looking for a summer intern to help improve data analysis and machine learning systems, contributing to grid optimization and customer engagement.
Responsibilities
Extract and conduct data analysis of moderate-sized data sets (10s of GB)
Review and evaluate data from production machine learning systems and explore methods to improve algorithms to be more performant
Engage with team to review results, conduct error investigations, and create reports
Collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, product line managers and stakeholders
Develop dashboards/reports that provide useful insights to internal/external stakeholders
Give internship summary presentation and recommendations for team during final week
Qualification
Required
Enrolled in a related accredited bachelor's degree program (preference: STEM degree, statistics, data science, software engineering etc.) with completion of at least two years of college courses
Intermediate experience with SQL and Python
Experience with statistical methods and data analysis
Exposure to machine learning via classes, independent projects, or work experience
Professional workplace communication skills
Preferred
Understanding of power systems
Related internship or work experience
Enrolled in a related master’s degree program (preference: STEM degree, statistics, data science, software engineering etc.)
Familiarity with Tableau or Power BI
Familiarity with Machine learning libraries like scikit-learn or XGBoost
