SpartanNash is an American food distributor and grocery store retailer headquartered in Byron Center, Michigan. As an IT Ecommerce Developer Intern, you will support the development of consumer-facing IT ecommerce and marketing initiatives while gaining real-world experience in the grocery and distribution industry.
Responsibilities
Support day-to-day development for one or more consumer facing IT ecommerce & marketing initiatives at SpartanNash. This position is within the IT ecommerce and marketing team and is responsible for delivering projects and building digital products supporting consumer facing mobile apps, retail ecommerce websites and loyalty marketing capabilities for the business
This internship will provide ability to develop software development capabilities and learn modern methods of development across the full stack (frameworks, web services, etc.)
Developing and testing code for web and mobile applications using modern methods of development (eg. ReactJS, React Native, Node, deployed to Azure Cloud Services)
Troubleshooting and resolving application issues and bugs and providing solution design to solve incidents -Interact with team members to share in learnings and to provide continuous improvement
Adhere to web security best practices with formal training opportunity on security standards
Contribute to automated tests and support agile software development methodologies and best practices
To collaborate with cross functional teams to contribute to its objectives
Responsible to complete or participate in at least one strategic project (Capstone Project) during the internship and possibly give a short presentation to the executive team that showcases the project
Participate in learning opportunities that may include tours of our warehouses and retail stores, a community service event (such as SpartanNash Expo, Helping Hands, or Special Olympics)
Attend weekly professional development workshops for developing skills, team building, etc.
Qualification
Required
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Be an active student through the summer
Graduate December 2025 or later
Be willing to attend mandatory, in-person events (2-3 events in Grand Rapids, Michigan including but not limited to orientation and/or intern gatherings)
Microsoft Office proficiency
