Skydio is a leading US drone company specializing in autonomous flight technology. They are seeking a Mobile Software Engineer Intern to design and refine advanced drone interfaces and contribute to the development of user interfaces for autonomous flying cameras.
Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and refine advanced drone interfaces, and then polish a consistent mobile experience for release to the world.
Contribute to the development of user interfaces for the world’s most advanced autonomous flying camera.
Combine your knowledge of Android ecosystems with our Drone Intelligence API to help create a new gold standard for what a drone app should be.
Improve user experiences by incorporating augmented reality, in-app content creation, and sharing capabilities.
Iterate on designs based on user feedback, internal testing, and your own experiences piloting Skydio drones.
Qualification
Required
Junior, senior, or MS-level college student with practical project and/or industry experience developing mobile applications on Android.
Passion for meticulously crafted interfaces that strike the correct balance between ease-of-use, elegance, and power.
Experience with Kotlin, Android Studio, Gradle, adb, Linux, and best practices for app development using Android Architecture Components and Jetpack Compose.
Ability to create tools and automate workflows using Python scripts.
Appreciation for the value of code-review and other collaborative development practices.
Preferred
Experience in C++ and OpenGL.
Bonus points: You’ve shipped code to the App Store or Google Play store and have experienced the joys (and frustrations) of getting feedback from real users.
Experience with IoT or embedded devices using Android NDK.
