They are seeking a motivated Technical Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) intern to join their team, focusing on drone inspection, assembly, and testing, while also engaging in research and development activities.
Responsibilities
Inspect, assemble, test and fly drones
Act as a role player being targeted by drones
Research and Development of best practices
Inventory of serialized equipment
Production of cost estimates and schedules
Participation in project calls with government, industry, and academia
Local travel to support testing and meetings (Wilmington, North Carolina area)
Support testing and experimentation in a field environment, as required
Listen, observe, learn, and ask questions
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizen with an active US Security Clearance or eligible to obtain a US Security Clearance
Current full-time student pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field with a projected expected graduation date after August 2025
Academic or professional experience with unmanned aircraft systems
Desire to work in a military environment
Ability to work on-site
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Must be able to walk 2 miles unassisted in uneven terrain (sand at the beach)
Must be able to carry up to 25 pounds for extended periods of time
Must be able to lift 50lbs unassisted
Preferred
Familiarity with unmanned aircraft systems
Military tactical knowledge or understanding
