Chainguard provides low-to-zero CVE container images that serve as a secure software foundation for building and running applications. The intern will assist in building Linux distributions and Chainguard container images while gaining experience in software supply chain security and collaborating with experienced developers.
Responsibilities
Package Building: Learn how to develop melange packages within Wolfi and private repositories, following technical specifications and integration requirements.
Image Creation: Work alongside experienced developers to build Chainguard container images for both public and private use, balancing speed with security.
Testing: Develop your skills by creating automated tests for image deployment and validation, ensuring smooth integration and functionality.
Backlog Management: Assist with efficiently processing a prioritized queue of images. You'll learn to manage your time effectively and meet both project deadlines and quality expectations.
Quality Assurance: Gain hands-on experience applying established standards and protocols for image production. You'll be responsible for meticulous quality checks before images are released.
Qualification
Required
Strong interest in software development and security
Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals (e.g., package managers, command line)
Eagerness to learn about packaging software and building container images
Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems
Passionate about quality and driven to deliver high-caliber work
Preferred
Experience with programming (any language) is a plus
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts (Kubernetes, Helm)
Interest in vulnerability management and remediation
