Beacon AI is developing AI pilot assistant technology to transform aviation, flight safety, operational efficiency, and pilot capabilities. The role involves supporting technological innovations across various engineering disciplines, including software, hardware, and robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Applications In addition to a large data layer effort, we build on the application layer. The user primarily interacts with our two products on one of two
  • Edge Compute This produces the brains of Murdock, our pilot assistant. In self-driving car terms/standard ‘robotics’ style software stack, you can think of this as the first 2/3rds of the stack and more feature/domain-specific pilot assistant, and in some cases aviation certified software. There are some AI/ML aspects in this team as well.
  • Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Data Science Many concepts (e.g., data sources with high input variability like speech and vision) are not well suited to strict rule-based code. Additionally, recent advancements in data science and large language models have opened the door for significant improvise in both live and more proximally pre- and post-flight software and data analysis.
  • Simulation Playing back flights and developing realistic permutations of events in simulation while also developing reliable feature verification in simulation is critical for overall system reliability.
  • Cloud Infrastructure/Backend Responsible for building the data infrastructure that collects data from customers and aircraft, stores it, makes it available for analytics and developers and manages API, data pipelines, and code deployment.
  • Aircraft Software and System Integration Flight software engineers will interface directly with avionics and write FAA-compliant software that can interact with them. Embedded systems engineers will interface with avionics, microcontrollers, network devices, and more to integrate system components from our system.
  • Hardware Our limited hardware footprint is an advantage! Nonetheless, we do have sensors, compute, interface components, and housings that are needed to receive, process, store, and deliver the data where it is needed.
  • Security Building a secure platform is critical for user integrity and privacy. This multi-domain security engineer will harden our cloud, web, tablet, and edge computers and networks.

Qualification

Required

  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a willingness to take on new challenges and learn quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Initiative to identify issues and develop creative solutions independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • A meticulous approach to tasks, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.

Preferred

  • A passion for advanced mobility and aviation.
  • Experience with self-driving mobility solutions, drone autopilot, motion planning, or similar challenging robotics problems.
  • Experience working on advanced machine learning problems.
  • Experience working with the Nvidia family of devices or similar.
  • Experience working with embedded systems, sensors, and drivers.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage
  • Paid Time Off
  • Connectivity Stipend
  • Health and Wellness Allowance
  • Financial Planning
